2026 has been the year TikTok Shop grew up. More rules, more automation and less room for brands that grow GMV without watching profit. Below is every major change for US sellers so far this year, with dates, sources and the practical impact on your margin. Platform rules change often, so always confirm the current version in Seller Center.

1. Account Health Rating replaces violation points

Sellers got a preview of their Account Health Rating in April 2026, and the system was scheduled to fully replace violation points in July 2026. Enforcement has also moved faster, from warning to restriction. Source: PPC Land.

What it means for you: account health is now something to check weekly, not after a problem. Creator claims about your product can count against you, so review what affiliates say in their videos.

2. Daily limits on shoppable content

Daily posting limits for shoppable content took effect for US merchants and creators in May 2026. Reported caps are 30 shoppable videos and 60 shoppable photo posts per day. Sources: EcomBrainly, PPC Land.

What it means for you: volume from a few accounts is capped. Growth now comes from more active creators posting steadily, which makes creator retention the real lever.

3. Affiliate commission caps cut in top categories

On June 22, 2026, TikTok Shop reduced affiliate commission caps across top categories, with the biggest changes in beauty, supplements and home. Creator payouts were reported falling from around 20% to 10 to 15%. Source: NovaData.

What it means for you: when every brand pays a similar rate, creators stay with the brands that support them best. Bonuses, repeat briefs and a real relationship now matter more than the headline commission.

4. GMV Max now counts your costs

Announced at TikTok World in May 2026, GMV Max performance now factors in affiliate commissions, coupons and platform fees, instead of measuring against gross sales alone. Source: The Keyword.

What it means for you: campaigns that looked profitable may look weaker under the new view. Run your numbers to net, and use holdout tests to see what ads truly add. Try the TikTok Shop profit calculator.

5. Longer payment holds for high-risk accounts

For accounts flagged as high risk or under audit, payment and commission holds can extend from 15 days to up to 31 days. Sources: PPC Land, EcomBrainly.

What it means for you: cash planning matters. A strong week can leave you short on stock while money sits in settlement. Model when your cash actually lands before you push a promotion.

6. Logistics: the shipping mandate, then the reversal

In January 2026 TikTok told US sellers it would phase out Seller Shipping and require TikTok logistics, with new sellers after February 9 onboarding on TikTok logistics only. TikTok later reversed the mandate, and independent carriers and 3PLs remain allowed. USPS labels for self-fulfilled orders now go through TikTok’s own label system. Sources: Easyship, GeekSeller.

What it means for you: you can keep your own fulfillment, but expect faster delivery targets and stricter dispatch rules. Compare FBT and your own setup on cost and speed, not habit.

7. Stricter content and listing rules

March 2026 rules prohibited false coupon codes and “lowest price” claims. A revised Content Policy in May 2026 banned misleading claims, spam and manipulative promotion, and a revised Product Listing Policy in June required truthful origin claims. Source: PPC Land.

What it means for you: brief creators on what they can and cannot say about your product. Compliance now protects growth.

8. Smart Promotion replaces co-funded promotions

On March 3, 2026 Smart Promotion replaced co-funded promotions for most US merchants. It charges 3.5% of total store GMV, 4.5% during major campaigns, with no budget cap. Source: PPC Land. Read our Smart Promotion guide.

What it means for you: model the fee per SKU. Low-margin products can turn unprofitable overnight.

9. Reported referral fee increase

Some sources report the US referral fee moving from 6% to 8% for most non-food categories from August 4, 2026. TikTok’s public table still listed 6% at the time of writing, so check your settlement statements. Source: beBOLD. Full breakdown: TikTok Shop fees in 2026.

10. A new Seller Enforcement Policy (October 2026)

On October 6, 2026 TikTok Shop published a Seller Enforcement Policy covering Account Health Rating thresholds at 150, 100, 50 and 0 points, fund holds of 45, 90 or 365 days, connected accounts and buyer data rules. Source: Seller University summary. Details: what the new policy means for US sellers.

What it means for you: account health is now a cash flow risk. A long fund hold can stop a growing brand.

What to do this month

  1. Check your Account Health Rating every week.
  2. Review creator videos for risky claims.
  3. Recalculate profit with the new commission levels.
  4. Judge GMV Max on net, not gross ROAS.
  5. Map when settlement cash lands before your next promotion.
  6. Build a creator retention plan, not just a recruitment list.
